Eat Happy Kitchen Substack Recipe Index
THE PAGE YOU ARE ON IS AN INDEX FOR MY SUBSTACK NEWSLETTER RECIPES AND INTERVIEWS.
I’m creating this index because I’ve now published so many recipes on this newsletter, I’ve forgotten some of them, which means you have too. No one is going to scroll back into the archives without some sort of direction.
I want you to make and remake these recipes. If you’re a premium subscriber, I want you to take advantage of all the recipes you get access to, too.
I’ve organized this index by courses, similarly to how I organize my cookbooks, and then alphabetically by name within each course:
Starters
Make Your Own (Sauces, Condiments, Dressings)
Mains
Soups, Stews, Slow Cooker/Instant Pot, Casseroles/Bakes
Sides
Breakfast
Sweets
Drinks
At the bottom of all of the categories is a listing of all of my interviews alphabetically by guest. These interviews are gems, and I hope you go listen to these luminaries and their interesting perspectives.
I wish I could hyperlink to each category of recipe, but the technology just isn’t there yet with Substack. As I add more recipe, I’ll figure out ways to make this more user friendly instead of making you scroll so much.
This index is up to over 101 recipes and 11 interviews so far. That’s more than some cookbooks. Get a cup of coffee and get ready to get some inspiration you may have missed.
XOXO
Anna
STARTERS
Asparagus Prosciutto Flatbread
This recipe for Asparagus Prosciutto Flatbread is based on my original “Ultimate Low Carb Pizza Crust Recipe” from Eat Happy. I’ve tweaked and streamlined the process as much as possible. After making a bajillion of these crusts over the years, I start to take it for granted that they’re pre…
Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops with Chili Basil Mango Dipping Sauce
OK folks. The holidays are in full swing. I don’t believe anyone has time to add a new recipe to their menu plans, but this one is so good I just had to post it. Maybe consider it for New Year’s Eve with a dirty martini? I’m going to tune out for a little …
Football Food: Part 2 (Buffalo Green Chili Chicken Queso Dip)
This year, I don’t think Valentine’s Day is getting the massive commercial attention it never earned because the Super Bowl is the event we are all focused on this weekend. However, if you need a quick idea for a super easy, lower carb chocolate dessert without any added or fake sugar, make sure you click through to this Dark Chocolate Ganache Idea Pin I made over at Pinterest.
Chicken Satays with Thai Peanut Dipping Sauce
When I go to my favorite Thai restaurants in LA, New York, and Atlanta, it’s pretty easy to get gluten-free these days. How far we’ve come, my fellow celiacs and gluten-intolerant-iacs. It’s even pretty easy to get Thai food without rice or noodles to keep it low carb.
Football Food: Part 1 (Chizza)
Let me speak plainly. I love football food. The dips, the wings, the nuggets, the bites, the poppers, the dawgs…everything points to decadence that prior to cutting out sugars and grains would’ve made me quite ill, overstuffed, and metabolically unsound.
Dairy Free Buffalo Dip
I am about to go see some of your gorgeous faces this week at Keto Con in Austin on Friday 7/8. And some of you in Atlanta on Monday 7/11 (this event will also be live-streamed). I cannot wait for an in-person love fest. This week, I went to a 4th of July party, and someone served an interesting dip from Trader Joe’s: “Vegan Buffalo Dip.”
Dill Deviled Eggs
Every week here on this newsletter I keep meaning to get organized and make an index post. I have now published so many yummy recipes over the past almost two years, that I think that some gems are getting lost in the passage of time. So obviously, this isn’t the organization/index post that I intende…
French Dip Bites and Banana Pepper Pot Roast
Happy Solstice! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! All the merry, bright and happy reasons for the seasons, you cute people. I don’t care what you celebrate in your house, I just wanna help you celebrate by giving you good food ideas. I’ve been sitting on this recipe for a couple of years, thinking I’d put it in a future cookbook.
Low Carb "Ravioli"
Today in LA, I’m slinging sauce at the stores! In fact, every Saturday in April, I’m slinging sauce in SoCal. If you live near one of these locations and wanna come see me, PLEASE do. I’d love to see you, I will feed you sauce samples, and I might even put you to work.
Mediterranean Feta Bake
I’ve never been one to run away from a dip. I think if I could just eat meat and dips, that’s all I would need for the rest of my life. Feta is a firm Greek sheep’s milk cheese that doesn’t melt so much as become a savory, tangy Tempurpedic pillow that when combined with Mediterranean flavors un…
Pimiento Cheese Dip
Football season has started. Y’all know I love a dip: Pink Ranch Dip Dairy Free Buffalo Dip Three New Dips (using EHK Spices) Buffalo Green Chili Queso Dip Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Chili Lime Mango Dipping Sauce Spinach and Artichoke Dip (cooking video for this one too)
Pumpkin Shaped Low Carb Baked Brie
Baked brie is a delicious throw back party food that reminds me of my catering days in the 90s. But making a low carb baked brie has not been something that has crossed my mind. First, we have the outer pastry to replicate, then the inside of traditional baked brie is usually filled with sugary jams or chutneys.
Salt and Vinegar Nuts
One day I went to my favorite natural food store. They had pre-made salt and vinegar nuts. I bought them immediately without reading the label. I opened the package, inhaled the delicious salt and vinegar scent, and scarfed down a hand full of nuts.
Whiskey Cheese Dip
TL; DR: Do NOT order beer cheese at a bar. Make Whiskey Cheese at home. Meditate. Investing in EHK is closing in two weeks. Buy Eat Happy Kitchen sauces in a store and get $2 per jar from my Venmo account. Salt Dust.
Zen Holiday Eating and Sausage Cheddar Balls
Zen Holiday Eating…Is There Such a Thing? Staying Low Carb/NSNG/Keto during the holidays is no easy feat, especially if you are new to this way of eating. I’m in New York City right now, and on every street corner I’m tempted by the most delicious food you can find anywhere. I think I just heard a pizza call out my actual name. Or maybe it was just Pizz…

My beautiful paid subscribers, you need some LOVE! And I’m giving it to you in the form of this new recipe of wee little, addictive, spicy salmon cups. Without you, this recipe writer would have no groceries with which to invent new creations to share. Thank you.

Homemade Italian Dressing and the Keto Brunch Party
Start The Day With Brunch This week’s substack is shorter because I’m focused on prepping for the Keto Brunch Party. It’s kind of like Doomsday prepping, but for breakfast foods. No, really. We’re going to be making a metric ton of amazing b…
MAINS
BBQ Chicken Fingers with Eat Happy Kitchen Homemade Ranch Dip
Whenever I release a new product into the world, I want to make sure you have plenty of recipes to inspire you to cook with that new product. Since I dropped three spice mixes all at once, the next series of substack editions will have new recipes incorporating the spice mixes.
Beef Enchiladas Verdes
I’ve been experimenting with the low carb version of things for about 10 years now: pizza crusts, tots, risotto, you name it, I’ve got a recipe for it. I don’t know why it never occurred to me to do a low carb tortilla. I have missed my beloved enchiladas.
Beef Stuffed Acorn Squash With Marinara and Fried Sage Leaves
We have less than 25 twin packs left of our seasonal, delish Pumpkin Marinara, but you can still make this recipe for beef stuffed acorn squash with any of sauce flavor.
Blackened Salmon
I can tell how many people at Instagram and Facebook don’t subscribe to this Substack newsletter because when I posted a story about my first post-surgery outing, I got a ton of well wishes from folks who had no idea. And some of these well wishers are close friends and even f…
Blackened Shrimp Salad Cups
This recipe is another delicious way to use that BBQ Dust from Eat Happy Kitchen. And if you don’t have the BBQ Dust yet, how did you get through the summer? BBQ Dust and the grill are the duo of the season. Shrimp is an easy protein to make as it takes just a few minutes to cook through, pl…

We won the Shelfie 2024 Award for Eat Happy Kitchen Puttanesca Sauce! And also, this recipe is FIRE. You want to make it.
Chicken Taco Salad with Avocado Cilantro Crema Dressing
First a quick video tutorial about opening the new Eat Happy Kitchen spice canisters…click the image below and it will take you to the video. I can’t get it to play within Substack (note to Substack: please fix this). Much like opening a jar of sauce with a secure lid, these canisters take a second to finesse. Since use use minimal plastic (just the tamp…
Chili Lime Flat Iron Steak
I’m headed to the great state of Texas for an abbreviated tour of Central Market stores. If you live near one of the ones listed below, please come and see me. I’ll be the one in the grocery section, tackling passers-by and convincing them to switch pasta sauces to the best one known to modern humans.

Coconut Curry Cod
I promise I didn’t intentionally post a picture of orange food so close to Halloween. But I did, so I guess I’m subconsciously excited for the season. I’m obsessed with this coconut curry sauce. It can be eaten on its own as a soup, or you can pour it all over fish, chicken, beef, or shrimp and do a happy…
Cold Thai Noodle Salad with Peanut Dressing
First of all, BOGO25 is still very much active over at Eat Happy Kitchen. If you buy a twin pack of Taco Seasoning, you can get a twin pack of The Dill Ranch Seasoning for 25% off. I don’t want to oversell it, BUT WHAT A DEAL, PEOPLE!
Creamed Spinach Smothered Pork Chops
I’m off to Marina Del Rey and West Hills, CA today to demo sauces at Pavilions. It’s my favorite day of the week when I get to go out and get people to try my sauces. I love driving and listening to audiobooks and podcasts, returning phone calls to people i’m way behind in catching up with. Then I get to hang out in my favorite public space—a grocery store—and feed strangers. Seeing the looks on people’s faces when they taste the sauce is a triumphant feeling. And then when they put a jar in their basket, I am over the moon.
Curried Chicken Spaghetti Squash
I’m a huge fan of an easy weeknight meal that can be made in one pot. But I get tired of the same ol’ same ol’. I won’t stand for it. And neither should you. IMHO, a fresh, homemade curry will brighten up your taste buds, comfort a deep place within your spirit, and reinvigorate your love of home cooking. That is the power of a good curry.
Dill Chicken Thighs (Air Fryer, Oven, or Grill)
I resisted for so long. I was pelted for years with questions about the air fryer. Now I've invented a recipe for one. These Dill Chicken Thighs are so incredibly delicious and easy to make, and we do these at least once a week in our household.
Easter Ham
Every year I’m asked about how to make a glaze for an Easter ham without sugar.Anna Vocino's Eat Happy Kitchen Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. I’ve perfected one that should make your Easte…
Low Carb Fried Mortadella Sandwiches
This sandwich is my version of and an homage to one of my heroes, the late, great Anthony Bourdain.
Halibut with Broccoli and Herb Pesto
This is an easy weeknight meal with fresh fish and veggies that somehow, despite the healthy appearance of it all, tastes incredibly satisfying. If you have an herb garden (and I sure hope you do), then this recipe is the perfect way to use up extra herbs before they start to wither and…
Hanger Steak with Braised Balsamic Shallots
Onglet à l’éshalote. Hanger steak with shallots. As bistro-French as it gets, and I’ve been making my version of this dish since the ’90s. Only mine is no longer served avec pommes frites. This dish is so classic French, we’re verging on escargot atop a Croque Monsieur territory. (Mmm…snail and egg toast).
Hatch Green Chili Burgers
It’s pepper season, and harvest is ON. Hatch green chilis being my favorite of all the chili peppers. Roasted, cooked, raw, I don’t care, just gimme ‘em. I know I’ve published a metric ton of burger recipes, but these aren’t slowing down any time soon.
Herb Coated Standing Rib Roast and Cauliflower Gratin
A Christmas Dinner To Rule Them All If your dinner menu is not yet set, might I encourage a few things to keep it delicious on that table this Christmas Saturday? First, I present you with the recipe for the Herb Coated Standing Rib Roast from Eat Happy Too
Herb Roasted Lamb Chops
They call January 15th “Quitter’s Day.” The day that folks abandon the apps to track new success habits. The day that most people have relinquished all hope of establishing those new, healthy patterns we so earnestly and devotedly pledged to execute a mere fifteen days ago.
Hickory Burgers with Run 'N Gun BBQ Sauce
I have no shortage of burger recipes. Here are a few that you should make: Loaded Burgers Salmon Burgers Fancy Turkey Burgers Lamb Burgers I find burgers to be such an easy, delicious weeknight meal year round. But the fact that we can grill them up any time during the summer? Sign…
Keto Cubano
So last week, I did a thing on Instagram Live with my friend Eddie Zamora, AKA The Yum Yum Foodie. I made a Keto Cubano, while Eddie bossed me around about it and gave the scoop behind the history of this delicious sandwich. You should follow him on Instagram.
Lamb Burgers
Is anyone else out there tired? In need of easy recipes to stay on track? Eat Happy Kitchen just participated in the Fancy Food Show in NYC, and it took every bit of the EHK team’s energy and focus. With any fledgling company, if even 10% of the leads and interest we gained at this trade show pan out, we will be taking great strides to grow our company.
Lemon Broccoli Chicken
It’s time to grill some food and eat outside in the heat amongst the mosquitos. It’s the season to frighten the daylights out of our pets with exploding fire. It’s Fourth of July, which means meat, sides, dranks, and fireworks. I can help with three out of the four.
Low Carb Deconstructed Filet O Fish
When we give up sugars and grains, there are certain indulgent comfort foods that we pine for, thinking we’ll never be able to have that food again. When the craving for that food washes over you, you must take matters into your own hands and get busy in the kitchen, or before …
Meatball Cupcakes
I love to post party food, especially around the holidays. I believe taking control of party food and making stuff you can enjoy at the party will help keep you on track, no matter what food restriction, allergy, or way of eating you prefer. Be in charge of your life and your f…
Orange Beef With Broccoli
When you get diagnosed with celiac disease, the only remedy is to avoid gluten, which means your Chinese food take-out game is severely hampered. When you go low carb/NSNG®, you are cutting out sugars, grains, and seed oils, which means your Chinese food take-out game is ALS…
Pan Fried Pork Chops with Dill Cream Sauce

Good news coming out of the grocery store push with Eat Happy Kitchen, as we now have some new chains carrying our sauces:
Santa Maria Tri Tip (Big Green Egg or Gas Grill)
The Central Coast of California is where I’ve chosen to put down roots for this next chapter of my life; the Santa Ynez Valley, to be more precise. We've been going up here for 15 years, loving the food, the wine, the farm stands of fresh veggies, and the beauty of the vines and horse pastures. This is the closest I’ve e…
Sausage and Mushroom "Risotto"
Marinara Makes Weeknight Meals Easier If you have an arsenal of easy recipes to make during the week when you are stressed, overburdened, and tempted to call for delivery, then you have a better chance at keeping your NSNG promise to yourself. This is fact.
Sausage Stuffed Butternut Squash
It’s President’s Day weekend. I don’t know what to do with that except be glad that I won’t get as many work emails on Monday and can film some content to hopefully inspire people to buy my sauces and spices. To me, it’s still winter, and it’s forecasted to rain all weekend here in sun…
Seattle Dogs
It’s just about Labor Day weekend, and grill outs will be a-plenty. We don’t often do hot dogs anymore now that I’ve been NSNG for so long, and I miss them as they’re all-time my favorite junk food. Several months ago, my friend Meagan Hawkes (AKA Foxy Hawkesy
Sesame Mustard Roasted Chicken
I’ve been obsessed with easy weeknight meals for quite some time now, in case you haven’t noticed. I am too busy to make the fancy things that I love to make. I am too forgetful to thaw the meat or start the slow cooker in time to get dinner on the table. I am too tired to wrap my brain arou…

Shrimp and Jalapeño Cheese "Grits" and The Vodka Bellini
Mother’s Day is upon us. If you’re gonna cook for Mom, I hope you’ll consider flipping through the breakfast chapters in the Eat Happy books. But if you want some new inspiration, the following recipe for Shrimp and Jalapeño Cheese “Grits” is DELISH! I’ve only ever let 14 other humans see this recipe (you know who you are), and since it’s so good, I’m reserving it for the premium subscribers who keep me able to buy groceries. Thank you, Happies!
Southwestern Stuffed Peppers
It’s Cinco De Mayo, so of course I’m gonna post a taco seasoning inspired recipe, but I never need an excuse to eat Mexican food. I can eat it year round. And I do. In a few days I will be entering my fifth decade on this planet, and I feel so lucky that I found NSNG®/low carb/keto/whatever…
Spicy Salmon
Living in SoCal for over 20 years, I’ve been exposed to some of the best sushi on the planet outside of Japan. This also means I’ve been exposed to some bad sushi over the years, ingested soy sauce that contains gluten, and mostly have given up altogether on sushi now that I rarely eat rice.
Taco Stuffed Zucchini
How many times have you bought some amazing produce and then tossed it because it languished in the fridge, never to see the light of day? FIRST AND FOREMOST: if you haven’t heard/watched my interview with Amy Cross of The Cross Legacy, she will school you on how to wash and store your produce for…
Whole Roasted Jerk Chicken
Jerk seasoning is a thing of wonder. It’s so delicious, I can barely contain myself with anticipation when I smell it cooking. I didn’t think it was possible to achieve the perfection of the jerk spice by removing sugar altogether, but I tinkered with it, used a couple of dates, and made it happen.
Zesty Chicken Thighs
I love a marinade. Marinades do all the heavy flavor lifting for you. Five minutes of whisking ingredients makes the whole family But you can’t buy store-bought or you risk nasty seed oils, sugar, grains, gums or other such nonsense infiltrating your marinade.
SOUPS, STEWS, CASSEROLES, AND SLOW COOKER/INSTANT POT
French Dip Bites and Banana Pepper Pot Roast
Happy Solstice! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! All the merry, bright and happy reasons for the seasons, you cute people. I don’t care what you celebrate in your house, I just wanna help you celebrate by giving you good food ideas. I’ve been sitting on this recipe for a couple of years, thinking I’d put it in a future cookbook.
Boar On The Floor
If you haven’t been watching Succession, then I don’t know what to tell you. Watch this show. It’s incredible, and I wish I could binge watch it for eternity. But all good shows must come to an end, and I like to make something fun when we watch culturally significant televised events. Why should the Super Bowl get all the festive recipes?
Butter Chicken
Buckle up, dear Happy. For the next 3 weeks, I am going to be screaming to the hills about pre-ordering my next cookbook, Eat Happy Italian. Why? Because the book is has a long lead time on printing, the publisher needs an accurate count on ordering. If not enough are pre-order…
Cheeseburger Pie
I don’t think I’m capable of finding the words to address the heart-breaking devastation, tragedy, and loss of human life that has occurred recently, so I won’t. Instead, I will offer up comfort the best way I know how: food. Make this gem of a casserole for your next gathering with family, friends, and…
Chicken Taco Soup
It got down to 48 degrees one night here last week, and I immediately jumped out of bed that morning and made this soup. I love soup so very very much. If you meld the right flavors, one soup can last several days and then you don’t have to do any more cooking.
Creamy Pesto Chicken Bake and Homemade Pesto
We’re rapidly approaching mid-January. The time when a lot of our sparkling new year resolve from a mere two weeks ago may have dissolved into the thin arctic winter air by now. I’ve been down for the count, recovering from surgery that will ultimately be a good thing, but I gotta get through …
Fast(er) Carnitas from Eat Happy
Cooking Video Alert!! One of my all time faves is this recipe for Fast(er) Carnitas. Here for YOU, dear reader.

Lemon Chicken "Noodle" Soup and Bob's Sausage Crust Deep Dish Pizza
I often feel like I’m going 120 miles per hour in a high speed convertible, and I don’t have time to stop and get the bugs out of my eyes or brush my hair. The week between Christmas and New Years is for me always the most quiet and contemplative time of year. Sure, there is work, there are emails, there is recipe development, there is responding to soci…

Mexican Butternut Squash Soup
In this week’s post, I’m taking a brief break from promoting my new cookbook Eat Happy Italian (buy it! cook from it! review it!).
Not Just Another Pot Roast
I love roasts, stews, and slow cooker comfort. They are warm, nourishing, fragrant, tender, and easy to make. As pedestrian as it may sound, the quest for the perfect pot roast is an urge deep within me. I love love love the pot roast recipe in my first book
Open Faced Sloppy Joes With Low Carb Rounds
President’s Day weekend is upon us. Probably the most who-gives-a-shit of holiday weekends, but I don’t care. I need a day off. I need some comfort food. But I need to not go off plan. Who’s with me? Enter Sloppy Joe’s. I don’t know if the next generation is familiar with this school cafeteria favorite, but let’s reintroduce it if they don’t know what it is.
Pork Chili Verde with Lime Green Salsa
I did a livestream demo of both the salsa and the chili verde, so you can watch here on Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This recipe is simple, comforting, and incredibly delicious. It also yields a lot and can be customized with chicken or beef if pork isn’t your thing.
Puttanesca Brisket Pot Roast
When I took the above recipe out of the oven to plate it, my husband said to me, “did you cook that brisket with hot dogs?” I did no such thing. Those are carrots. I just want it to be known publicly that I would never make a pot roast simmered in hot dogs.
Short Rib Stroganoff
It’s 2023!! Whether we like it or not, another new year has turned, and we are resolved to make ourselves, our lives, our relationships, our health, our everything…better. Did anyone else feel like this holiday season flew by? I am overwhelmed with deadlines and deliverables, trying to squeeze work into every cranny and crevice of available awake time.
Stewtanesca
I LOVE THE PUTTANESCA SAUCE!! Okay, I say that about all my sauces, but right now, I LOVE THIS SAUCE THE BEST! I only ever had one child, so obviously she’s my favorite. But I cycle through sauce favorites like a dysfunctional mom in a VC Andrews novel.

Cheesy Sprouts
How to not miss Mac & Cheese… I’ve been watching the tour de force documentary re-enactment series called The Food That Built America on The History Channel. Seared shishito peppers are a staple of Japanese restaurants all over SoCal, but unfortunately for us gluten-sensitive types, they arrive to the table drenched in soy sauce. And the second ingredient in Americanized soy sauce is wheat. No bueno. Here’s an…
Spanish Style Cauliflower Rice
Someone wrote me recently and told me now that she’s gone low carb, she misses eating rice, in particular Spanish rice. I told her that she won’t miss it for long. This week’s recipe might not seem as exciting as fun bar food, juicy meat recipes, or celebratory cocktail recipes.

Cheesecake Tart
I am taking some new photos for some of my classic recipes from my first cookbook Eat Happy. I haven’t made this cheesecake tart in years, and I gotta be honest…it’s incredible. Easy to make, as long as you plan ahead and make the crust in enough time for it to cool.
