Does anyone else need a holiday weekend like they’ve never needed one before?
I can’t shake the hydra-to-do-list feeling that no matter how many things I get done, there are 100 things to do right behind it. It’s wearing on my nerves.
As with any business, there are fuck ups and snafus. There are wins and there are setbacks. There are encounters that annoy the fuck out of me, and then there are delightful and sublime wins that take my breath away.
One of the wins is that Eat Happy Kitchen pasta sauces are finally on shelf at your neighborhood King Soopers, Fry’s, Smith’s, QFC, Fred Meyers, and Ralph’s. If you live near one of those stores, please check out this site for exact locations. Thank you in advance for going to the store and buying all the sauce you can afford!
Now let’s make a burger to launch the summer grilling season on Memorial Day.

I love my precious BBQ Dust, which I firmly believe should be in every pantry in America. I put it in all of my burger blends these days, and sometimes I add Salt Dust and/or Ranch Dust because I’m a maniac.
The Black and Blue Burger incorporates a peppery finish and blue cheese crumbles, which is gaming the cheese part of it. you don’t really even need an extra slice of cheese. Adding in diced bacon into the burger along with the wizardry of the BBQ Dust makes this a perfect burger. Be warned, though. Like Nene Leakes, this burger is rich, bitch.
Have a great holiday weekend, and let’s all take a breath this weekend.

BLACK AND BLUE BACON BURGERS (Grill)
(Yields 4 burgers)
1 pound ground beef
1 heaping tablespoon EHK BBQ dust (or your favorite bbq rub)
4 slices of bacon, chopped
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
Freshly ground pepper
Lettuce leaves, for wrapping
In a large bowl, hand-combine the ground beef, BBQ Dust, chopped bacon, and blue cheese crumbles into a burger blend. Press into 4 patties and lay them on a plate. Season each side of the patties with freshly ground pepper.
Heat a grill to 400-450 degrees and cook the patties, about 3-4 minutes per side, smashing them down with a spatula when you first put them on the grill and then again when you flip them. Serve immediately, wrapped in lettuce.
Yay!!!! I have a smith's and a sprouts near me.
