If you could be a doll and press play on the above video, you will help the cause tremendously. The BTS stuff you don’t see is how much I have to pay for equipment, groceries, pay an editor, pay for the software tools to create all of the creative assets to make this one single post happen…
SO, if you click on the video above and watch it, it helps me get one step closer to monetization on the YouTube platform and that would just be the bees knees, so thank you in advance for your help.

OK, let’s make some delish yogurt, shall we?
If you’ve listened to the Fitness Confidential podcast at all in the past three months, you’ve heard me rave about the Ultimate Probiotic Yogurt Maker that has become my new obsession. If you have ever been interested in making your own yogurt, but are in love with the Greek yogurt thick, smooth texture, you will want to get the aforementioned maker plus this Greek Yogurt Strainer. And here are the probiotic starter packets I used. There are a ton of these available at Amazon, or you can also use existing yogurt as a starter, kinda like the concept of a sourdough mother.
BTW I know you can make yogurt in an Instant Pot, BUT I only ever use it for making broth, so now it smells strongly of broth, even after scrubbing it. I don’t want my yogurt to smell like broth. So I got the yogurt maker, and I’m so glad I did.
This recipe is for plain Greek Yogurt. There is no added sugar. I love plain Greek yogurt because I can taste the flavor of the yogurt, the slightly sour with the creaminess of the milk fat sends my brain into the stratosphere of joy.
You can add nuts, berries, seeds. You can also puree some fruit or add some chunks of fruit on top. I don’t think you ever need to add sugar to yogurt, but my hubs adds local honey to his. Or use this yogurt in savory stuff as a base in dips, to thicken sauces, or my favorite savory way to eat it: whisk in a tablespoon of Eat Happy Kitchen Ranch Dust and thank me later.
The whole process takes a couple of days, and yet, it’s the easiest recipe you’ll ever make. I like to begin the process at 7pm or 7am so that in 36 hours, I know I’ll be awake to manage the next step in the recipe. That will make more sense once you read what I wrote or watch the above video.
Here’s the printable PDF version of the recipe, plus it’s pasted below in case you’d rather read it from the computer.
XOXO

HOMEMADE GREEK YOGURT
(yields 2 quarts )
Note: I make my yogurt at 7am so that by 7pm the following day, I’m pouring the yogurt into the strainer so that it strains, and I have Greek Yogurt by the following morning to enjoy.
1 packet probiotic yogurt starter
4 cups whole milk
4 cups half and half
Sprinkle 1 full packet (2 packets total) of the yogurt starter in each of the 1-quart containers of the Ultimate Probiotic Yogurt Maker. Place a few tablespoons of milk in each quart container, and vigorously stir using a small whisk to dissolve the starter powder into the milk. Add 2 cups each of the whole milk and half and half into each of the quart containers. Put the lid on the containers and place them into the Yogurt Maker.
Fill the container with water up the sides of the of the containers, making sure the water doesn’t meet the plastic lid. This is the water bath that the yogurt will cook in. Turn on the Yogurt Maker and set it to 100 degrees for 36 hours.
After 36 hours, pour the warm yogurt from both containers into the Greek Yogurt Strainer. Cover it and place it in the fridge to cool and strain for several hours or overnight. In the morning, you’ll have perfectly strained, smooth, and rich Greek Yogurt. Serve with your fave things and enjoy!

We started using this at Christmas. Love it!
This is by far the best and easiest recipe ever! The yogurt maker is a game changer. Switched from my instant pot. This is a weekly recipe! Thank you Anna!
