I love tech. I love blood work. Combine anything that has both, I’ll probably buy it. I finally got a Keto Mojo Blood Glucose and Ketone Monitor, and here’s an unboxing video.
When I tried the Nutrisense Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor for a two week blood glucose experiment, I was blown away at the tech of their app. So I when I heard that the Keto Mojo monitor had the good app, I knew I had to try it. I’ve been using the Precision Xtra for about 6 years, and it’s great, but new tech is fun, so here we are with a new gadget.
Side note: I don’t check my blood sugar or ketones too often, first of all because I don’t want to obsess over stats and numbers, and secondly because the ketone strips can get pricey. If I’m doing a specific challenge, a fast, or experimenting with a food, I will test to get real time results.
I’m amazed that we have these tools at home at our disposal, so use them wisely and for your edification. Don’t obsess, just observe the data, and if something seems off, call your doctor!
BTW if you wanna get a Nutrisense CGM (pricey, but super cool data to troubleshoot blood glucose re: eating behaviors and certain foods), use the discount code ANNA25 for $25 bucks off.
And grab a Keto Mojo starter kit here like the one I have. Now, on to the food…
I’m chiming in for a short one this week to make sure you don’t miss this fabulous weeknight recipe delight: Garlic Butter Pork Chops.
I’ve never met a problem…emotional, physical, or spiritual…that wasn’t made easier by homemade compound herb butter. Like a compound noun, you are just adding stuff into butter until it becomes a perfect blob of garlic, herbs, and butter.
You can use whatever herbs you have on hand. Preferably any herbs that are threatening to go bad in the fridge.
You can also use any protein you desire: chicken, steak, pork chops, fish. Just adjust the stove top time accordingly, and make sure you season your meat amply with salt and pepper first.
This is a restaurant quality meal without any nasty sugars or seed oils, and I promise you will be infinitely happier having had made this than calling for take out.
GARLIC BUTTER HERB PORK CHOPS
(serves 2-4)
INGREDIENTS
2 lbs thin cut bone-in pork chops
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup salted butter (4 ounces, brought to room temperature)
2 teaspoons fresh minced herbs, plus more for garnish
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
INSTRUCTIONS
Season pork chops with salt and pepper, set aside. In a small mixing bowl, mix butter with herbs and garlic, to taste.
In a large, flat-bottomed nonstick sauté pan or cast iron pan, bring 2 tablespoons of the compounded butter to medium high heat. Cook pork chops, two at a time, about 3-4 minutes per side, being careful not to overcook. Heat one more tablespoon of compound butter in the pan, and use a spoon to scoop the melted butter over the pork chops. Remove from heat and repeat process for any remaining pork chops. Serve garnished with additional minced herbs.
I love my keto-mojo! I won it in a raffle at Low Carb USA. My doc and RD were so impressed that I could download all the data into a spreadsheet and send it along.
